Super excited to be reviewing and sharing with you guys one of Lorac's Holiday Collection sets. This is the Rockin' Red Hot Lip Gloss Collection.
So like most cosmetic companies, Lorac released a few sets for the Holidays. This year, Lorac's theme is Rockin' Red Hot. Their other sets are: Rockin' Red Hot Lashes, Rockin' Red Hot 3D Liquid Lustre, Rockin' Red Hot Pro, Rockin', and Rockin' Red Hot Mini Lip Gloss. Also note that some sets are exclusive to Ulta/Sephora.
So today as mentioned earlier, I will be reviewing and showing you swatches of the Lorac Rockin' Red Hot Lip Gloss Collection. This set is exclusive to Sephora-- but of course you can purchase it on the Lorac website if you'd like.
This set is a $90 value but it is only $27-- AMAZING deal because you get 6 full sized lip glosses. That's insane. Incredible. Most high end lip glosses retail for at least $16 - $36 EACH. Look at how much money you're saving, people!
Anyways, enough blabbering of how affordable this is and let's start cracking' with this review.
According to the back of the packaging, these lip glosses are paraben-free and are packed with antioxidants of Acai Berry, Pomegrante, Grape Seed, and Vitamins A, C, and E for hydration and shine!
As mentioned there are 6 lip glosses in this set. The colors are labeled on the back as well.
Here's an overview of the full back side:
When you take the tray out... Aren't they just gorgeous?!
As you can see, there are pretty rhinestones on top-- perfect for the Holiday season!
So we will start off with the first lipgloss ;
This shade is called Rock N' Roll. Lorac describes this color as a pink nude, which I agree.
Here's a swatch of Rock N' Roll:

And here's what my lips looks like with Rock N' Roll lipgloss on:
My thoughts: Alright, so when swatched on my arm, the color doesn't look too "nude" and it was quite sheer. However, when applied on my lips-- I was surprised on how opaque it was! It only took one swipe to get the color to show up. Of course, you can build up the color if you want to but with swipe, the color is already visible. This lipgloss would be lovely by itself or on top of a nude lipstick.
This shade is called: You Rock. Lorac describes this color as a plum color.

Here's what my lips look like with You Rock lipgloss on:
My thoughts: When swatched on my arm, it looked really pigmented. It's a nice dark plum with golden shimmer. However, when applied on my lips, it didn't look plum at all. It's more of like a neutral mauve color-- the gold flexes did show up though.
This color is called Rock On. Lorac describes this as a rose color.

Here's what my lips look like with Rock On lipgloss:
My thoughts: I thought I was going to be disappointed with the color payoff because most pink lip glosses tend to not show up on my lips. Surprisingly, this one does show up! It's a really nice medium pink color. You can wear this alone because it's that strongly pigmented. Very impressed.
This shade is called Rock Star. Lorac describes this as a violet shade-- also exclusive to this set!
Here's a swatch of Rock Star:

Here's what my lips looks like with Rock Star:
My thoughts: Violet?! Nah, more like TRANSPARENT. No sign of violet anywhere...maybe a little from the swatch, but when applied onto the lips, it's basically a clear lipgloss. You can tell from the lipgloss bottle that it's going to be super sheer.
This shade is called Easy Rock. Lorac describes this as a fuchsia color. I personally don't agree, it's more of like a sheer pink.

Here's what my lips look like with Easy Rock:
My thoughts:I thought this shade was going to be as sheer and transparent as the Rock Star shade because it looks quite transparent on the bottle but no! This shade actually shows up a to be a light pinky color. So not really fuchsia...
Finally, the last shade is called Rock It. Lorac describes this as a coral.
Here's a swatch of Rock It:
Here's what my lips looks like without any color:
Here's what my lips look like with Rock It:
My thoughts: From the lipgloss bottle, I thought this color was going to be more of like a scarlet or an orangey red. When applied, it's more of a peachy pink. Doesn't spring out coral to me.
For reference, here is what the applicator looks like. It isn't the common doe foot applicator like most lip glosses, it's a brush tip applicator.
Here's what to keep in mind....
- These lip glosses do have a scent, I don't hate or love it. It's just eh.
- There are shimmer/glitter specks in these lip glosses, however it isn't gritty on the lips.
- The opacity of these lip glosses really varies between shade to shade.
- These lip glosses are quite creamy and aren't sticky, well maybe semi-sticky.
Would I recommend this lip gloss set?
Yes I would. Why? Because it's a great deal; $27 for 6 lip glosses. If you do the calculation that's $4.50 per lip gloss. That's even cheaper than most drugstore lip glosses! Don't forget, Lorac is a high end brand. If you aren't too happy with any of the shades, you can put it Christmas stockings for someone, they'll be great for stocking stuffers!
What are my favorite shades from this set?
It'd have to be Rock N' Roll and Rock On. Why? Because there are the most pigmented out of the bunch. I'm not really a fan of sheer or transparent lip glosses.
What are my complaints about this set?
Two shades in this set were sheer/transparent. Mostly disappointed in the Rock Star shade because the box said it's an exclusive violet shade, made me think it'll be an opaque purple lipgloss. I also wish there was an opaque red color in this set, most of the colors turned out to look pinky. It's the Holidays, we want some bold lips!
That's it for my review! Hope you guys enjoyed reading :)
